Cranio-Sacral Therapy

Cranio-Sacral Therapy is a gentle yet powerful technique to alleviate and remove physical trauma from the body.

What is Cranio-Sacral Therapy?

It is a gentle hands-on manipulation of the CranioSacral system: a physiological system with a name derived from the combination of the cranium (where your brain resides) and your sacrum or tailbone (the other end of your spinal column.)
The cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) is contained within this system.  As the CSF moves through and filters into the blood stream pressures within these two areas build and fall.  This creates a cycle or rhythm within the body called the CranioSacral rhythm.
When the rhythm is disturbed, one or more dysfunctions may present themselves within the body.   For example: your nervous system, organ system, hormonal system, muscular system, and/or psycho-emotional body can be affected.
How is CranioSacral Therapy Performed?
A practitioner will use light touch to test for restrictions in the Craniosacral system.  This is done by monitoring the rhythm of the CSF as it flows through the system.  CranioSacral Therapy relies to a large extent on your body’s natural self-corrective activities.  The therapist simply assists the body to improve your body’s internal environment and strengthens its ability to heal itself.  This is either done by moving the body into the position that it needs to be in the release and heal itself or gentle traction of the body and joints.  The most positive outcome of this is that your body is in charge of healing itself not the practitioner, which therefore gives the receiver the power to be in charge of the treatment.
